FIELD STUDY 1: DAY 7
DAY 7: SEEING POINT AT 7th DAY
I came to school at 7:10 in the morning and directly go to my advisory's room which is the Grade 10 Lapu-lapu. As I was entering the room, I noticed that they don't have enough seats, then one student offered me a seat. Then, as I have watched the students ding their stuffs of the class, I have noticed that they are almost present, that's why there is no seats available. As minutes have passed, cue for first period; ma'am Gigie directly go to the front and start the class with a prayer. After that, ma'am checked the attendance and remarkably, there are just three students who were absent. And happily, one of them came late. Since, there topic still revolves around movements of tectonic plates, the yeacher just review their learning as they will be having a long quiz tomorrow. Students are still particitive and active when the teacher asks a question. Hence, if they will be having quiz, they would ace it because you could see their active participation. Ma'am Gigie Geonzon, continued her discussion 'till the last part of their module. Ma'am always reminds them to study at night, not just memorizing but, comprehending it truly and thoroughly.
As an observer, I could sense the comfortableness of her students to answer the questions given, because if a student ask a question, shee just directly answered it with respect and patience. To me, what ma'am usually do in class is an ideal way of making a good relationship towards her students. It is an implication that if you will have a good connection - a great communication with one another, the goal which is to have a quality education is feasible and possibly achieved.
Ma'am Geonzon, ended her class - still reminding them that they needto study for the long quiz tomorrow. As usual, we together with me - Ms. Diaz and Ms. Retiza, will go to ma'am Jenny - our Cooperating teacher. So, I told ma'am Geonzon to go for my second for observation. Then, she replied respectfully, "Yes sir, you can go now." We waited ma'am Jenny in the classroom of grade 7 - Everlasting and a minute later, ma'am Jeny Dumagan are with us for her class. In this second period of our Day 8, ma'am Dumagan gave a practice drill for her student about "passive and active verbs", and she told us that; as a teacher we need a concrete competencies for our topics in a class. Then, sher further said that "If someday if you'll be here in front of your student, you should have to give more activities, more drills, and more 'pakulo' to make your student enjoy the process of learning." As a future educator, all what ma'am Jenny stated were noted, and will be our basis in our future careers in school. This situation reflects me as a person and as a future teacher to be creative especially on how I will deliver the instruction.
At 9:30 am, time for recess, we are on our way to ma'am Dumagan's office. There, we wait 15 minutes and prepare ourselves for the 3rd period class of our cooperating teacher in Grade 8- Beryl. Ma'am told us that she will have an activity today - a group activity in the topic "Bibliography". It was 9:40 am when we go down from 3rd floor to 8-Beryl in the next building. As we arrived their, students are excited and reasy for the activity. Ma'am, presents the mechanics of the activity. It is a quiz bowl type of game, but in a group competition. Ma'am starts with an item of identification test. They have got the correct answers and smoothly their activity ended with ejoyment and got something from the activity.
After the last schedule of ma'am Jenny in the morning, we decided to stay in our cooperating teacher's office. What we did is talking about experiences of ma'am in teaching and somehow interviewed her about the classroom management etc. This day is motivational and somehow gave lessons to continue our journey in FS 1. Holding the grasp of hope and reaching th point of this task. Aja!
