FIELD STUDY 2 - DAY 5: We have battled and are ready to face another day
This was not just an amazing day, but a fruitful one to achieve. I arrived at school at 7:25 a.m., and it was a cloudy day, with rain just this morning. Yes, it was not a sunny day, but my whole morning in Field Study 2 was one of the best. I don’t want to fabricate the situation that has frustrated me lately, the pressure that overwhelms me, and the overthinking scenario that has driven my actions yet; the achievement of surpassing those things and ending up with smiles concludes amazingly.
Ma'am Jenny Dumagan, my cooperating teacher (CT), begins her Grade 9-Eris class in the first period with a reminder, thus an act of disciplining her students who were late and ended up "hollow" on the things that Ma'am Jenny has discussed. She noticed they were late and absent, so she imposed the rule of these issues. Even if the atmosphere is tense, my CT's patience and understanding shine through as she gradually returns to her aura as a positive facilitator who commands a light touch. Then, since she assigned a student yesterday who will perform a story in accordance with the memorandum that DepEd imposed about the National Reading Month celebration, it was showcased, and some questions were asked of her students. Right after the presentation of storytelling and the question-and-answer portion, my CT informed them about the activity that they have to perform this coming Monday: a Reader’s Theater performance. However, before presenting the masterpiece or story that they will be presenting, ma'am showed some of the best Reader's Theater videos. Ma'am Dumagan has already divided the class into three groups by writing the names of the members on her paper. Ma'am Jenny allowed them to practice from today to Friday because they will be performing this presentation. My first CT period went well, and my presence in the classroom was greatly appreciated, both to assist her and to participate in some of ma'am's instructions.
Ma'am Jenny's second schedule is grade 7-Everlasting on the second period. Thus, we directed them to their classroom, where, like the section Eris has done in preparing for the National Reading Month celebration, they will perform a Reader’s Theater. Similarly, to the activity, they have seen two Reader's Theater sample videos. They will be remarkably focused on the purpose of observing the video and analyzing things that they need to consider in the performance they will be presenting this coming Monday. My CT distributed the pieces of script for reader’s theater and likely to the 9-Eris; ma’am did the groupings already, and I could see on the faces of students that they were satisfied with their groups’ co-members. Hence, this period is insightful and keeps them motivated because, as Ma'am Jenny always said to me, "the Grade *-Beryl likes activities like this." Then, as a student teacher, this also keeps me motivated to actually understand what my future students will like or not.
Since there are only three scheduled classes every morning, what I did in the classroom of my cooperating teacher was just sit while encoding the scores of her students. It is not a new process in my days, but it is a good practice ground for me to begin adjusting to what my future holds. This day ended so well that I am not that frustrated or stressed by the things I have encountered. Even though I have problems, confusions, and questions in my head, I have battled them gracefully and am ready to face another day in this Field Study 2.
